Dr Owen Jenkins performs implant surgeries for his own and other dentist’s patients on referral, and he also restores a large number of cases. Owen is able to continue to see you long term to maintain the health of your dental implants and general dental health, or refer you back to your dentist for your ongoing dental needs.
Dr Jenkins is also very experienced in other aspects of oral surgery such as surgical dental extractions and removal of Wisdom Teeth. All surgeries can be performed on-site under local or twilight sedation, or under a general anaesthetic at a private hospital day surgery unit.
Owen prides himself on taking the fear and uncertainty out of dental care, by ensuring all options and treatments are fully explained in language you can understand. Having had an implant treatment himself, he has a strong empathy with patients going through this procedure.
Having qualified in 2002 with awards for the top clinical student in Restorative Dentistry, Periodontology and Prosthetics; he spent his first few years undertaking further postgraduate training positions in oral and maxillofacial surgery, advanced restorative dentistry, periodontology and sedation dentistry. This culminated in passing multiple examinations to become a Member of the Faculty of Dental Surgeons of the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
In 2016, he successfully graduated from a year-long Master Clinician Program in advanced implant surgery with the global institute for dental education and Loma Linda University in California, achieving an additional certification as an Aesthetic Master Clinician.
He is also one of few Australian dentists or specialists to have passed the rigorous and lengthy assessment of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and to be awarded the prestigious Diploma in Implant Dentistry.
He continues to dedicate much time to studying worldwide and furthering his knowledge and skills so that he can provide the best possible evidence based care for his patients. He has spent countless hours in the company of a selection of the world’s most renowned dental implant clinicians to always provide the most up to date and advanced treatments for his patients. He is also active in improving the education of other dentists both locally and nationally in Australia through teaching, mentorship and lecturing in implant dentistry alongside founding and running a regional implant dentistry study club. He teaches a foundation course in surgical and restorative aspects of dental implant treatments to dentists wishing to begin or further their dental implant careers.
He is experienced in managing patients with dental anxiety and phobias and performs regular intravenous sedation treatment sessions at the practice, alongside regular General Anaesthetic sessions at Nambour Selangor Private Hospital. This is ideal to help make dental treatments more acceptable and manageable for those with dental anxiety, or for those patients having longer procedures.
Away from work, Owen likes to be active and enjoy the outdoors with his family and their Golden Retrievers Alfie and Maggie. As a former rugby union player, he loves coaching his children’s rugby union team and is always happy to chat rugby. He is also very involved in surf lifesaving activities where he competes at masters level and coaches nipper competitors. He is a volunteer lifesaving patrol captain at Alexandra Headland beach.

Owen has over 15 years experience in implant dentistry and has an extensive portfolio of successfully treated cases from basic through to very complex.
Being highly trained and experienced in all aspects of dental implant treatments, he is able diagnose, plan and complete all stages of the surgical and restorative treatment without the need to be referred to separate practitioners, clinics or radiology centers.
This allows ideal control over factors that affect the final treatment outcome, and also gives the ability to review and maintain all aspects of the treatment long-term at the same clinic.
He is also experienced in performing immediate implant placement and restoration of the tooth on the same day as tooth extraction, maximising the aesthetic result and treatment experience in the anterior zone. Owen also teaches these techniques to other dental surgeons.
